The Alexander Technique is a taught self-help method which teaches us a better way of 'using' ourselves, that is, how we balance, move and coordinate our bodies. We learn to reduce stressful muscle tension habits which limit our functioning, cause us pain, and distort the naturally graceful carriage and poise we had as children.

WELCOME to the official website of the South African Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (SASTAT).

Newsflash: INTERNATIONAL ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE AWARENESS WEEK runs from 10 - 16 Oct 2011.

Alexander teachers in South Africa will be offering workshops, interviews, lectures and 'taster' lessons. The objective is to inform and broaden the general awareness of the exceptional benefits that the Alexander Technique can provide to all of us in our daily lives. Contact local teachers for details.

Established in 1991, the society serves as a regulatory body for all its members, establishing and preserving professional standards and ethical conduct.

It also provides information to the general public about the F.M. Alexander Technique and the South African teachers who pass it on.
